Ghana FA to launch 12-team national women’s league today

The maiden women’s league is scheduled to kick off on December 16 after it was shifted from the first week of this month due to the upcoming elections
The Ghana Football Association will on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, launch the maiden National Women’s League.

Twelve teams across the nation will take part in the novelty league. They are Reformers Ladies, Lepo Ladies, Bolga Ghatel, Ampim Darkoah Ladies, Fabulous Ladies, Hassacas Ladies, Ashtown Ladies, Ayoola Ladies, Immigration Ladies, Soccer Intellectuals, Cape Coast Ghatel and Ho Ghatel.

The league will kick off on December 16.

According to Mrs Leanier Addy, a member of the Ghana Football Association’s executive committee, the launching would help the league to gain grounds and will also draw the attention of the general public.

“The most agonising thing is we have not got sponsorship yet so I am entreating companies and other bodies to come to our aid,” she said.

The league was to begin in the first week of December but has been shifted to 16th because of Friday’s general elections.
