thumbnail Hello,

The guardsman is lamenting the lack of play time, although he concedes he will need to fight for a first team call-up as the Ghana league heats up

Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah has admitted warming the bench is affecting his performance and believes he can do more if he gets the chance on the field.

Speaking in his bi-weekly blog post, the Porcupine Warriors player also conceded with a lot of talented players at the disposal of the technical handlers, it will take a lot of effort to catch the eyes of coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

“I do not think I am currently at my best level,” the soccer TV reality show revelation stated. “I think I can be doing better than I do anytime I have had the chance to play and it is due to the lack of action that has stared me squarely in the face.”

“Sometimes it is hard to take but I have never forgotten that it is part of football.”

Baah promised to go the extra mile to cement a spot in the squad list as the former Africa champions maintain an unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League as well as prepare for the next edition of the Caf Champions League.

“As a player, I know that first team football is not my birthright and since Kotoko is the subject here, it understates everything that I have said. The team has the luxury of at least two experienced players in every position and that makes the work of the coach concerning selection even harder. That said, I will continue to work my tail off at training to earn a first team place, that, I can assure all my fans,” the 21-year-old stressed.

Baah expressed confidence in the coach to propel the team to glory as they struggle to find their scoring boots in the domestic top flight.

He said: “The fans are still not happy and I understand them perfectly. Especially when the results are not the desired ones, even at home. I scratch my head each day to find answers to our poor form at home this season. I have a strong conviction that the team, with Coach Didi Dramani, could re-kindle the ‘Kum Apem a Apem Beba’ spirit and prove why we are Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the greatest in Ghana if not in Africa.”
