The 22-year-old has sparked a huge controversy after boldly declaring that the referees in La Liga are racists
Ghana and Espanyol midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso, has taken a swipe at Spanish referees describing them as racists.
The 22-year-old at a press conference on Friday did not hesitate in pouring out his feelings about the level of officiating in the Spanish La Liga.
The former Villarreal midfielder who only joined Espanyol this season has been a constant recipient of cards in the Spanish top flight and he attributes that to racism.
“I am sorry to say, but referees draw cards based on the colour of your skin.
“I think they respect some players and not others, the game at Mestalla was rubbish,” Wakaso said.
Wakaso added that the only game they deserved to lose was against Osasuna but the others were influenced by the referee.
Espanyol are rooted at the bottom of the Spanish La Liga table with nine points after 12 matches.
