Andre Ayew: "Marseille will beat Bordeaux"

The midfielder believes the time has come for the current squad of the Stade Velodrome side to break the 35-year-old jinx of being unable to beat Bordeaux away
Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew is optimistic Olympique Marseille will beat Bordeaux when the two sides meet at the stadium Chaban-Delmas this weekend in the French Ligue 1.

Ayew thinks that Marseille will need to be at their best in order to end their winless streak which they have suffered during visits to Bordeaux.

"Every statistic exist to be removed, and we will try and end that on Sunday," he told Marseille’s official website.

“Even our great Uefa Champions League winning squad of 1993 could not win there but we are determined to win there and make history.”

The flamboyant midfielder may be deployed as a striker in the game following injuries to Piere-Andre Gignac, Loic Remy and with Jordan Ayew on suspension.

Marseille who are lying second on the league table with a game to play have not beaten Bordeaux away in 35 years.
