Authorities of the National Sports Authority and the Security agencies in Ghana have put in place strict security measures to ensure an incident free match on Sunday
The biggest football match on Ghana’s calendar will witness tight security at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi this Sunday.
Arch rivals, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are meeting in a delayed week 7 fixture and the authorities do not want to leave any stone unturned.
A total of 385 policemen have been penciled down for duty while 30 soldiers will be on stand-by.
90 fire personnel will also be at the stadium while support will also come from personnel of the National Disaster Management Organization.
Matches between the two sides have always been given special security attention due to the negative incidents recorded previously.
Till date, the May 9 stadium disaster in 2001 at the Accra sports stadium between the two sides when 126 lives were lost remains Africa’s worst disaster.
Hearts of Oak will be hoping to rescue their patchy run in the league against the Porcupine Warriors who are the only unbeaten side this season.
