Stephen Appiah is yet to officially sign for Iranian side Persepolis

The former Ghana captain has yet to officially sign a deal with the Iranian side as reported by a section of the media
Iranian giants Persepolis FC have not signed former Ghana skipper, Stephen Appiah yet, the Tehran newspaper reports.

Last week, media reports were rife that the 31-year-old has signed for The Red Army.

“Stephen Appiah is training with Persepolis but has not been signed by the popular Iranian football team,” the report said.

“The former Ghana captain has reached an agreement with the team's officials but he has not been confirmed so far.”

It added: “Some Iranian newspapers reported that Appiah has joined Persepolis while an official of the club confirmed to us that Portuguese coach, Manuel Jose has not confirmed the 31-year-old midfielder joining the team.”

Appiah, a former Juventus and Fernabache player announced his retirement from international football in 2010 in order to concentrate on club football.
