Asamoah Gyan must stay strong after his mother’s death – Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah

The player’s mother lost her life on Tuesday after running her car into the GNAT Hall building in Accra
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has said the death of the mother of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan came as a huge shock to him and the football world.

He said he was saddened by the news of madam Cecilia Amoako’s death and advised his captain to remain strong.

“I heard the sad news about the passing of Asamoah Gyan’s mother,” coach Appiah told Ghana immediately the news broke on Tuesday. “It is indeed a very sad day for those of us in football. My heart goes out to the player and the family. I want them to stay strong in these difficult times.”

Gyan’s mother died on Tuesday afternoon after driving into a concrete pillar at the Teachers' Hall in Accra.

She was rushed to the Ridge Hospital where she died on arrival.

According to an eyewitness account, madam Amoako, a teacher, lost control of the car’s steering wheel which led to her death at the hospital in the west African country’s capital, Accra.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Ridge Hospital morgue.
