The former Black Satellites coach is happy Ghana have made it to Algeria for the Africa Youth championship next year
Former Black Satellites coach, Orlando Wellington has congratulated the national under 20 men’s team for qualifying to the Africa Youth championship in Algeria.
The Satellites over the weekend completed a 5-4 aggregate victory over Morocco to make it to the continental showpiece.
Wellington was the head coach until resigning in July due to intense pressure from the media after a shaky build up.
His place has since been taken over by the assistant Black Stars coach, Maxwell Konadu who together with former Tema Youth trainer, Prince Owusu sealed Ghana’s place on Sunday.
“Congratulations to the entire team including my predecessor, Maxwell Konadu and the Gfa technical director, Francis Oti Akenten,” Wellington told Accra-based Radio XYZ.
“I think Konadu has done a good job and I am not surprised at all that he led the team to qualify.”
Ghana will join seven other teams for the competition in Algeria next year.
