Ghana's Black Maidens were beaten 2-1 by Germany in their opening Group match at the Fifa Under-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan on Sunday morning.

The Maidens conceded two early goals in the first half and left it late to get the consolation in the 80th minute through Jane Ayieyam.

Ghana will next play against Uruguay on Wednesday before taking on China in the final group D match.

Mashoud Didi Dramani's girls are making a third succesive appearance at the World Cup after first round exits in the previous attempts.
