The organizers of the annual event between giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko said MTN pulled out of the deal at the last minute making it impossible to go ahead with it
The organizers of the annual pre-season fixture between the two rivals said the two clubs must not be blamed for the cancelation of the much-awaited match.
The two teams were scheduled to meet this Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, but it was announced on Tuesday morning that the match has been aborted.
The blame game has started among fans of both clubs who are accusing each other of deliberately pulling out.
But the CEO of Proton Sports services, Kurt Okraku, said none of the clubs caused it.
“Our sponsors, MTN, pulled out because they felt the number of days left to the match was too short for them to get enough leverage,” Okraku told Goal.com Ghana.
