Esperance defender Harrison Afful has tipped Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey to make his mark in Tunisia after having recently agreed terms to join the club.
The 25-year-old ended speculation surrounding his future by agreeing to join reigning African inter-club champions in a deal reported to be worth US$ 1.5 million which will see him earn about US$ 500,000 per year.
The forward is set to undergo a medical with the Blood and Gold this week.
Afful who moved to the Tunis-based side in 2009 where he has spent three seasons is confident of a successful stint for Clottey.
“The club (Esperance) wants to regain the Tunisian title and defend the Champions League as well that’s why they are going in for Clottey,” the Black Stars defender told Accra-based Joy FM. “He is someone who always scores and if you have a striker like Clottey that is a good boost for the team.”
“Esperance have made a right choice. I believe in Emmanuel Clottey. I have played with him before and I know what he can do.”
Clottey is the leading goal scorer in the ongoing Caf Champions League with 12 goals in his name.
