The Miners hope to reach a deal with the Vietnam-based guardsman by end of next week ahead of the new seasonAshanti Gold are in serious talks with defender Jonathan Quartey in an attempt to sign the player from Vietnamese side Hanoi ACB as he seeks to revive his dwindling football career.
“The quality is still there and he would be very helpful in our quest to win the Ghana Glo League this coming season,” a technical team member of the Miners told Goal.com Ghana.
“Talks are ongoing and hopefully by the end of next week everything would be sealed as he himself wants to relaunch his career and get into the Black Stars again.”
Quartey played for Liberty Professionals, Ashanti Gold and Heart of Lions in the domestic top flight before signing for South African side Kaizer Cheifs where he made his name.
The 2007 second best defender in the Ghana Premier League failed to make an impact in Europe where he had stints with French giants Nice and Turkish side Samsunspor.
