He said it is dream come true and he would never want to forget the feat. He expressed his gratitude to God for making it “possible” for him to sail through successfully on his debut.

“Grande feeling! Don’t wake me up from this dream. It was all possible #becauseofHim,” he posted on his official Twitter account hours after winning the trophy.

The 23-year-old who joined the Turin side from Udinese scored in the 37th minute to level the scores after Uruguayan Edinson Cavani had given Napoli the lead 10 minutes earlier. Pandev restored Napoli’s lead later on before Arturo Vidal got the Old Lady’s second equalizer from the spot.

An own goal from Christian Maggio in extra time gave the Italian Serie A champions the lead before Vucinic sealed the result late on. Asamoah was present throughout the game and put up a solid performance overall linking up well with Vidal who claimed the assist for the Ghanaian’s stunning 18-yard volley.

The Ghanaian was quick to praise his side’s spirit. He told Rai Sport: “It was a tough game, against a very good Napoli side. We never gave up after going behind in the first half.

“We managed to level after the break then we came good with the winning goals in extra-time. That's the team spirit we have here and it's what the lads have been showing me since day one.”
