2013 Africa Youth Championship qualifier: Ghana U20 3-0 Uganda U20: Black Satellites dash hopes of the Hippos to battle Morocco in final round

The Under-20 lads have progressed to the final round of the continent’s junior championship qualifying games, after overturning a 3-1 deficit incurred during the first leg
The Black Satellites beat Uganda 3-0 at the Tamale Stadium on Saturday to overturn a 3-1 first leg deficit in the 2013 African Youth Championship qualifier.

Ghana will now face Morocco in the final qualifying round after completing a 4-3 aggregate victory against the Hippos.

The north Africans reached this stage after mauling Gambia 4-0 in the first leg before the west Africans pulled out from the qualifiers.

Moses Odjer put coach Maxwell Konadu’s side in the lead before the interval. The Black Satellites could have ended the first half with a two-goal lead, but for a penalty miss by Jacob Apau.

The 2009 Africa and World champions created several chances in the second half, but their poor finishing let them down.

However, it was Ebenezer Assafuah, who brought life back to the stadium with the second strike before Emmanuel Gyamfi consolidated Ghana’s lead with the third goal.

Ghana will now face off with Morocco in September for a place in the finals being held in Algeria.
