“Our FA Cup magic was determination and hard work” – New Edubiase coach Anthony Commey

The title holders of the MTN FA Cup believe their feat in the knock-out competition has spurred them on to prove a point when the domestic league begins in October
The coach of New Edubiase, Anthony Commey, has been full of praise of his charges following their maiden FA Cup victory on Sunday.

He said the secret behind their enviable success was as a result of “determination and hard work” and they will clearly show in their performance when the new season of the Ghana Premier League starts on October 7.

“The boys have been very disciplined throughout the season and they really deserve this victory,” Commeny told Goal.com Ghana after beating Ashanti Gold 1-0 in the final of the MTN FA Cup.

It has been a smooth journey for the Bekwai-based club in the knock-out competition where they finished without conceding a single goal. They had beaten BA Stars 3-0 in the round of 64, Yegoala FC 2-0 in the round of 32, Heart of Lions 2-0 in the round of 16, Danbot FC 3-0 in the quarter-final and Wassaman FC 1-0 in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, some of the players have been extolling the virtues of their coach for guiding them to clinch their major title since they joined Ghana’s elite football.

“'We listened to our coach at half time, and his strategy of keeping the ball as our opponents were becoming physical. They got the red card, and it worked out perfectly,” the Man of the Match Abdul Basit Adam said.
