Waris sets 11-goal target in Ligue 1

The Black Stars frontman is gradually becoming a fan-favourite at Valenciennes with his goals and assists and believes he can hit over 10 goals before his loan stint expires

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is enjoying every moment at Valenciennes after scoring two goals in five games in the French Ligue 1.

The Spartak Moscow-owned forward said he is happy with his job in France and with four assists, he feels satisfied as he hopes to strike 11 or more goals by the close of the season.

“I don’t exactly talk about the number of goals I want to score in a season but I think for now I’m looking at 11 goals or more,” the 22-year-old told Ghanasoccernet.

He added: “As a striker my primary job is to score goals and help my club in every competition and I think I’ve started doing that here for them.”

“I’m always happy to find the back of the net and when my goals make big impact I’m happy. My goals are part of my job and when I don’t score I get worried for that.”
