West Brom-Tottenham Betting Preview: Gareth Bale can help Spurs earn another point on the road

West Brom-Tottenham Betting Preview: Gareth Bale can help Spurs earn another point on the road

Latest Barcelona-Real Madrid Betting Preview: Why backing Ronaldo to score offers serious value Previous

Andre Villas-Boas' side travel to the Hawthorns to face Steve Clarke's Baggies, and with neither team in great form, Jamie Dickenson is backing the draw with a goal for Gareth Bale

Tottenham travel to the Hawthorns on Sunday for their early afternoon meeting with West Brom, looking to consolidate their grip on fourth spot in the Premier League.

Spurs are the 11/10 (2.10) favourites with Bet 365 to win in the West Midlands, but that price looks a touch short given their last three away games have not ended in victory.

West Brom are in poor form though, having not recorded a win in their last seven games in all competitions, and should be avoided here at 5/2 (3.50) to take all three points.

The draw is therefore a tempting 12/5 (3.40) compromise, given Spurs' recent troubles on the road and West Brom's bad run.

The Baggies last home game was an exciting 2-2 draw with local rivals Aston Villa, while Andre Villas-Boas' side have drawn their last three successive league games.

With such tasty odds for the draw on offer, a stalemate is worth backing over a winner and would produce a profitable return.

Spurs left it late last time out against Norwich to earn a point, when winger Gareth Bale scored a fine individual goal in the 80th minute after running from the halfway line.

The Welshman said after the Norwich draw that he emulates his game on Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, and that solo effort was certainly reminiscent of the Portugal international.

Backing Bale to add a bit of Ronaldo's goalscoring consistency to his game and score against West Brom looks a worthy bet too, available at 7/4 (2.40) anytime.

The 23-year-old has developed a tendency to score on the road this season, with eight of his 10 league goals coming away from White Hart Lane, and he could increase this statistic by netting at the Hawthorns.

With Emmanuel Adebayor still away on international duty in South Africa after his assist helped Togo reach the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history, Spurs will be looking to Bale to continue shouldering the goalscoring burden in his absence.

Jermain Defoe continues to be blighted by a muscle tear that is being treated by the controversial blood-spinning healing technique, while Clint Dempsey has stepped up to the plate with two goals in his last three games.

But with Bale's confidence likely to be high after his wonderful equaliser mid-week, supporting him to find the net again is to be encouraged in a match that could end in a draw.
