The quarter-final phase of the Uefa Champions League kicks off Tuesday.

The likes of Enoch Adu Kofi, Christian Atsu, Sulley Muntari, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Kwadwo Asamoah and Michael Essien have been involved in the competition in one way or the other. But only Essien and Asamoah are left in the competition.

Looking at the pairing, there could even be a possible final involving both players at opposite ends that is if Real Madrid and Juventus are able to go through their quarter and semi-final matches unscathed.

The 30-year-old is fresh from winning the Uefa Champions League with Chelsea last season even though he did not play a part in the final against Bayern Munich. The on loan Chelsea midfielder would be the first Ghanaian player to win the title twice if Real Madrid are able to lift the title this year. The Spanish giants have been paired with Galatasaray in the quarter-finals which will see Essien meeting his former team-mate at Chelsea, Didier Drogba.

Asamoah has been enjoying his debut season at the Old Lady. Juventus are in line to win the Italian Serie A plus their progress to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League. For the 24-year-old, this is a great thing for him since this is the first time he is playing in the competition. The farthest he went at his former club, Udinese was the preliminary round for the teams that failed to gain automatic spots. Juventus are playing against one of the powerhouses, Bayern Munich and their path also has Barcelona making the entire journey very rough.
