The Ashgold goalkeeper has won the hearts of many at the 2013 Afcon with his timely saves and confidence in post. Dauda produced his best performance at the 2013 Afcon when Ghana beat Cape Verde 2-0 in the quarter-final last Saturday. He was called to duty on so many occasions and responded diligently. His nomination as man-of-the-match was a deserving accolade for the former Okwahu United shot-stopper.

Congratulations to Dauda, Goal.com's 21th Ghana Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention
MUBARAK WAKASO – Black Stars

The Espanyol midfielder came from the bench and grabbed a double to see Ghana through to the semi-final of the 2013 Afcon. Wakaso first scored from the spot before fetching the winner to put the game beyond Cape Verde. The Afcon debutant has scored three goals in three matches. He is joined at the summit of the goal king chart by two other players.

ASAMOAH GYAN – Black Stars

The Black Stars captain came into the picture in the last Group B match against Niger last Monday. The 27-year-old scored the first goal and made the other two as Ghana won the match 3-0 to progress to the quarter-final. The goal took his tally in the history of the Afcon to six as he joined George Alhassan and Abedi Pele as the joint second top scorers. Wilberforce Mfum is Ghana’s top scorer in the history of the tournament with eight goals and Gyan can equal it since the Black Stars still have two more matches to play at the 2013 Afcon.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com Ghana, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
