1-0 Mali
The Udinese midfielder has really got his Afcon campaign to a flying start. After scoring in the 2-2 draw game with DR Congo in the Group B opener at the 2013 Afcon, the 22-year-old put up a man-of-the-match performance when the Black Stars saw off Mali on a 1-0 scoreline. In Thursday’s match against the Eagles, the Under-20 World Cup winner run tirelessly and was just too good for the Eagles to handle. Apart from his header that hit the post, he got Ghana the penalty that led to the 1-0 victory.

Congratulations to Badu, Goal.com's 20th Ghana Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention
ANDRE DEDE AYEW - MARSEILLE

The 23-year-old was on target for OM again this weekend. He scored for the former French champions last week when they beat Montpellier 3-2. Ayew found the back of the net again when his side drew 2-2 with Rennes on Saturday.

JORDAN AYEW - MARSEILLE

The 21-year-old who is the younger brother of Andre has had a good start to the second round of the French Ligue 1. He showed some mental strength after he was ignored by the Ghana coach for the 2013 Afcon. Jordan has scored three times in the last three matches against Sochaux, Montpellier and Rennes. On Sunday, he got the second goal for OM.

ISAAC VORSAH - GHANA

The Red Bulls Salzburg man brought some stability to the Black Stars defence against Mali after missing the opening match. Even after committing a few errors, his contributions in general made him one of Ghana’s best performers. He easily dealt with the aerial balls, but for that the Malians could have threatened Ghana.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com Ghana, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
