The 19-year-old made the headlines in the Italian second-tier over the weekend after producing a remarkable performance for Sassuolo who beat Reggina 3-1 to maintain their top spot. The on-loan Juventus striker scored a double to become Sassuolo’s joint top scorer in the Serie B after 16 matches. The former Bechem United striker registered the first goal in the 18th minute and after doubled his tally in the 48th minute. The win means Sassuolo are still occupying the top spot. He is surely making a case why he must be at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.

3-1 Reggina

Congratulations to Boakye-Yiadom, Goal.com's 13th Ghana Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention

Jordan Ayew - Olympic Marseille

Jordan Ayew has consistently proven that Marseille had it right by terminating his proposed move away from the club before the transfer window was shut. The 20-year-old has been a scorer of important goals for the French giants this season and he repeated the dose over the weekend. He scored the only goal for Marseille against Lille as they rejoined PSG at the summit of the table.

Emmanuel Clottey - Esperance

Clottey has finally been on mark for the Tunisian side after getting one of the goals in the 3-0 win over Olympic de Kef. The 25-year-old joined the Caf Champions League losing finalists after a fine campaign with Ghana’s Berekum Chelsea where he emerged as the top scorer of the elite inter-club competition of the continent with 12 goals.

Asamoah Gyan - Al Ain

The Ghana captain seems to find goal scoring the easiest aspect of his game now ever since he moved to the UAE pro league. He was a brace hero again at the weekend for Al Ain who defeated Dubai 5-2. His tally now stands at 17 in eight matches.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com Ghana, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
