Ghana Player of the Week

AGE 24
POSITION Midfielder
FOR Amidaus
2-2 Heart of Lions
The former OGC Nice player has made a huge impact in the early part of the Glo Premier League of Ghana. Mohammed who joined the newly promoted side on loan from Asante Kotoko was given a huge responsibility after he was handed the captain’s armband and he has so far done his job diligently. He was a brace hero for Amidaus Professionals in their 2-2 draw with Heart of Lions at the Tema Park on Sunday.

The ex-Tema Youth player had earlier scored in the week in their 1-3 away defeat to Ashgold last Wednesday. As a midfielder, he has quickly shown his goal scoring prowess as he joins two other players at the summit of the top scorer’s chart with four goals in five matches.
Congratulations to Mohammed,'s 9th Ghana Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention
Kennedy Ashia - Liberty Professionals

Another midfielder whose goal scoring abilities in the Ghanaian top flight have been impeccable is Ashia. He scored in mid-week last week in the 1-1 draw at Heart of Lions and grabbed a brace over the weekend in the 2-0 win over Aduana Stars.

Dominic Adiyiah - Arsenal Kyiv

The 22-year-old best player and top scorer at the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup has had his image sinking over the months, but his goal over the weekend might give him the confidence he has been looking for. The former AC Milan player came from the bench to score for Arsenal Kyiv to avoid a defeat in the 1-1 draw with Volyn Lutsk in the Ukrainian top flight.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Ghana, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.

You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
