thumbnail Hello,

The former Netherlands coach has admitted that he would like to work with Mario Balotelli at some point but he believes Italian football in general is in decline

Marco van Basten has admitted that he is training so that he can one day become coach of AC Milan.

The former Netherlands international, who played over 140 matches for the Italian outfit, is currently in charge at Dutch club Heerenveen, but admitted that he would like to manage at San Siro and work with new signing Mario Balotelli.

"I'm training to coach Milan," he told Sky Sport 24.

"I'd like to coach Balotelli. Maybe in the future he will come to Heerenveen!"

The 48-year-old also commented on Italian football on the whole, admitting that Juventus are doing the country proud but revealing it upsets him to see half-empty stadia such as the San Siro for Serie A matches.

"Italian football is in crisis, but Juventus have a perfect organisation," he continued.

"I'm sad when I see San Siro with empty stands."

Despite the former Netherlands trainer holding aspirations to move to Italy, another Dutchman has recently left the country, with Wesley Sneijder moving to Galatasaray from Inter, and Van Basten believes the Nerazzurri played a big part in his departure.

He added: "Inter? They wanted to remove Sneijder."
