AC Milan striker M'Baye Niang has backed his team-mates' decision to leave the field of play following racists taunts from the crowd.
The Rossoneri were playing a friendly against regional side Pro Patria when, after just under an hour's play, Kevin Prince-Boateng reacted angrily by kicking the ball into the stands after tiring of repeated racist chanting from a small section of fans.Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini decided to lead his side from the field and Niang applauded his captain's decision and has warned that he and his team-mates would do it again should the need arise.
“We are ready to do this again in Serie A or the Champions League, even if we are playing against Barcelona or Real Madrid,” Niang told Tg1.
“Our captain Massimo Ambrosini did the right thing by taking the team off the field. I’d never seen anything like this in France.”
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has also praised the Milan players for the action taken."A great team, a great coach and a great man," Prandelli told Tg1.
"Massimiliano Allegri understood the problem. We are all tired of this. We are all fed up. Milan were fantastic, as all together we can probably manage to ruin the plans of these few people.”
Injured Milan star, Nigel De Jong, was equally impressed by the actions of his side and took to Twitter to applaud them.
"A great gesture today from my mates who supported Boateng in leaving the field of play," he tweeted.
