Ranocchia left out of Inter squad to face Hajduk due to Scommessopoli

The 24-year-old centre-half has been summoned for a second time to speak with the prosecutors investigating the match-fixing scandal which has rocked the Italian game to its core

Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has been pulled out of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Hajduk Split because of his involvement in the enquiry into Scommessopoli.

The Italy international was first interviewed by the prosecutors investigating the match-fixing scandal earlier this month, emerging after a 50-minute meeting to tell waiting reporters that everything was okay.

However, he has now been summoned for a second time in connection with alleged attempts to influence the outcome of games involving Bari during the 2009-10 season.

The news of Ranocchia's withdrawal comes on the same day that the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) Disciplinary Committee rejected Juventus coach Antonio Conte's attempt at a plea bargain agreement.

The Scommessopoli affair centres on the findings of prosecutors in Bari, Cremona and Naples in relation to their investigation into a global match-fixing ring believed to have been in operation for a decade.
