Internacional president claims Damiao is 'priceless'

The Brazilian club's supremo has ruled out the possibility of letting the highly-rated striker leave, while admitting that re-signing Pato may be possible in the future
Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has warned AC Milan that Leandro Damiao is not for sale, claiming no amount of money could pry the striker away from the Beira-Rio.

The Brazil international is believed to have made the Rossoneri's list of possible replacements for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who completed a 23 million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week.

Fifa agent Stefano Castagna, who represents Damiao in Italy, confirmed on Thursday he had held preliminary talks with Milan, but was quick to point out that the Serie A giants had not yet tabled any bid for the player.

Luigi has now issued a 'hands off' warning for the player and stressed Internacional have no interest in selling the 22-year-old.

"There are no negotiations," Luigi told MilanNews. "None at all, because we are not willing to let the player go.

"His agent may have spoken with Milan, but we are the ones who conduct negotiations, certainly not the agent.

"We will not open talks, the player is not up for sale, so it is pointless to put a price on him. He is priceless."

The Internacional president was then asked about the possibility of re-signing Alexandre Pato, who has been linked with a return to Brazil after an injury-hit season at San Siro.

"That is absolutely unthinkable right now," Luigi noted. "Perhaps in the future, you never know."
