Hoops boss has hit-out at the TV station after a message on their twitter page mocked their chances of qualifying from their Champions League group

Celtic Boss Neil Lennon has demanded an apology from ITV after a tweet from their official account derided the Glasgow side's chances of qualifying from their Champions League group.

The tweet appeared after the draw was made saying: "Bye bye Celtic. They've drawn Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow."

Immediately after the message was posted, the Hoops boss reacted to the statement on Twitter by saying: "I think itv owe us an apology."

ITV officials moved quickly to apologise for the incendiary comment, following their initial mistake with this statement: "To Celtic fans out there - we mean no disrespect. An ill-advised way of us saying we think you've got a very tough draw. Apologies."

Celtic were placed in Group G alongside Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow in Thursday's Champions league draw.

Their first fixture will be at Celtic Park against the Portuguese runners-up Benfica on September 19.
