Mancini was delighted to earn the three points despite having several players missing, while also backing the Bosnian striker to find the net in games that he plays from the start.
"The three points today is very important because it's important to stay on top with United and Chelsea. I think that today we had a fantastic spirit," he told the club's official website.
"I think there are moments during the season where you don't play well, you concede a goal that we didn't concede last year or maybe you're missing three or four important players like today but in this moment it is important to stay calm and to work hard.
"I'm very happy because he [Dzeko] deserved to score. I hope he can score also when he plays from the start."
