The Red Devils have given the mandate to their youth coach on an interim basis to handle the first team following the resignation of Mohamed Youssef
Ahly have appointed Fathi Mabrouk as their first-team coach until the end of the season after the board of directors accepted the resignation of Mohamed Youssef.
“Ahly management has accepted the resignation of coach Mohamed Youssef," read a statement on the club's official website on Thursday.
The Cairo club also announced the resignation of football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz and football supervisor Hady Khashaba.
It is believed that Youssef stepped down due to their inability to progress in the Caf Champions League after being knocked out by Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya.
The eight-time winners of the elite inter-club competition of the continent have now dropped into the Confederation Cup and have been paired with Etoile du Sahel, Sewe San Pedro and Nkana in Group B.
Youssef had been in charge of the Red Devils since May last year.
