Stade Malien clinch Mali’s league title

The Bamako-based Les Blancs have reclaimed the Malian Premier Division title after losing it to archrivals Djoliba last year

Stade Malien have won the 2012-2013 title of the Malian Premier Division after wrapping up the season with a 2-1 win over CSK at the Stade du 26 Mars on Sunday.

This was amid a presidential runoff taking place in the West African country.

Stade are winning their 18th title, but are still trailing record holders Djoliba who have won the championship 22 times. They enjoyed an exceptional season, conceding just one defeat and recording 25 wins, four draws and scoring 56 goals against 14 conceded.

Les Blancs take home as prizemoney 7 million francs CFA (€10,670) while second placed AS Real will be entitled to 5 million francs CFA (€7,622). Both teams will represent Mali in the Caf Champions League next year.
