Former Heartland defender says he wants to keep scoring for his new club as the season progresses

Former Heartland defender, Chibuzor Okonkwo has disclosed that his happiness after scoring his first goal for his new club, Enugu Rangers.

Okonkwo, who won a silver medal at the football event at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 scored a cracking free kick goal against Dolphins.

The match was a week seven Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday, which Rangers won 3-0.

He noted that though the goal took a long time in coming, he is looking to be more consistent on the scoring sheet starting with the next game against Lobi Stars.

"I am so happy that I have opened my goals account. It was not easy waiting for it, but since it has come, I want to thank God.

"I know my potentials and what I can do. Because I changed clubs, I have had to wait for sometime for the goals to start coming.

Okonkwo then boasted that he is set to score in the next five league games. "And now that I have started scoring, I am going to get goals in five consecutive matches. I just need to be fit all through the games.

"I am blessed as I have good players in the team that will complement my efforts this season. I want to do my best for the team because we are gunning for the all the available trophies at stake," Okonkwo added.
