Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic has released his squad for the second leg of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying round against Libya scheduled to hold on October 14 in Blida.
Half a dozen key players have been sidelined due to injuries and suspension issues, prompting the Bosnian coach to recall home based midfielder Yacine Bezzaz and Khaled Lemmouchia both of whom have been absent for more than two years.
Hocine El Orfi of USM Alger will be debuting with the team while Parma striker Ishak Belfodil, who was expected to join the outfit for the first time after he was cleared by Fifa last week, did not make the final list. The football federation says the 20-year-old player is still mending from an injury sustained during a league match.
Buoyed up by the latest Fifa ranking which puts Algeria at 24th position and second on the continent behind Cote D’Ivoire, their best ever, the North Africans expect to consolidate their one-goal advantage from the first leg to qualify for the South Africa 2013 after they failed to reach the Gabon / Equatorial Guinea 2012.
