The international break has ended and we are right back in to some top quality, mouth-watering Premier League action.
Both Manchester City and Chelsea have potential banana skins in trips to Stoke and QPR respectively, whereas Manchester United are widely expected to beat Wigan at Old Trafford. It’s interesting to look at the newly-promoted teams this weekend and the possibility that all three could pick up crucial points.
The early kick-off on Saturday sees West Ham travel to Carrow Road to take on Norwich. Sam Allardyce’s team have won two of their opening three Premier League games and were very convincing when they took apart Fulham at Upton Park a fortnight ago.
The Hammers are 21/10 (3.10) with Paddy Power to take all three points from the clash with Chris Hughton’s team and build on recent momentum. West Ham haven’t lost to Norwich in the last five games and you can get 4/7 (1.57) with Paddy Power that West Ham either win or draw with their double chance bet.
At 3pm on Saturday, Southampton travel to Arsenal in a tough outing for Nigel Adkins’ men. The Saints are the only team in the Premier League without a point after three games, but will have taken plenty of heart from running both Manchester clubs close in 3-2 defeats.
The Saints can cause Arsenal plenty of problems going forward and are a big 9/1 (10.0) with Paddy Power to spring a surprise and take all three points. It’s 23/10 (3.30) that they come away from the Emirates with either a win or a draw.
On Sunday afternoon Reading host Tottenham as under-pressure Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas rolls into the Madejski. Reading have put up battling performances against Stoke and Chelsea, but are yet to notch a Premier League win and this could be their perfect opportunity.
In front of what will be an electric atmosphere, Reading can take advantage of a Tottenham side low on confidence and without a victory themselves. The 11/4 (3.75) with Paddy Power for three points to the Royals is worth a look and it is 8/11 (1.73) that Reading win or draw.
It’s still early days for the new boys in the top-flight, but every point is vital as no-one wants to be bottom at Christmas. This weekend could see a couple, if not all of them picking up valuable points and upsetting the odds.
