Gained confidence as he denied Neymar with a good save just a few minutes into play. Didn't have a chance for any of the Barca goals and took the pressure off Madrid by claiming the ball out of the air a few times.
Charged down plenty of crosses and shots on the edge of the box and was dominant in the air, but his match will be remembered for the 19th red card of his club career after bringing down Neymar through on goal.
Was far too static for Messi's goal in the first half as he should have closed the Argentine down quicker. Had some entertaining footraces with Neymar down the wing and won some and lost others. His defensive duties meant that he wasn't as effective in an attacking sense.
Found himself far too narrow for the opening goal which gifted Iniesta the space required to get his shot away. Learned from that mistake, though, and gave the Barca man not much room to operate down that left wing.
Typically had his Clasico unsporting moments as he went down clutching his face after a bust-up with Fabregas, but did well on the footballing side and was proactive in his defending as he always looked to snatch the ball away from the feet of the Barca players.
Á. di María
Had an unbelievable first half in which he claimed two assists as well as covering every blade of grass chasing down Barcelona players. Drifted in and out of the match in the second half as he ran himself into the ground in the opening hour.
Didn't have as much possession as he would have liked but screened the defence well and sat back in the space in which Messi tried to operate. Rashly went in for the challenge on Iniesta inside the box which gave away the penalty for the winning goal.
Stretched his legs a few times down the right wing and linked up well with the other Madrid attackers, but his performance just lacked an element of threat towards the Barca goal. Didn't pull of a telling pass or shot.
Failed to assert authority when in possession and didn't make the most of possession in the final third. Played a little too deep which meant his ability to affect the game in dangerous areas wasn't as productive as usual.
Could have scored four or five in the first half but had to settle for just the two through a bullet header and a wonderfully controlled volley. Saw a couple more strikes saved by Valdes and was unlucky to be substituted after Ramos's red card.
Didn't have a quiet match as such but just didn't have too many bursting runs or shots on goal. Won the penalty after a challenge from Dani Alves and dusted himself off to get up and expertly convert the spot-kick into the corner.
Would be kicking himself for not getting a strong enough hand to Benzema's header for the opening goal. Atoned for this slightly as he made a number of good saves from long-range Real Madrid shots. Kept out another Benzema attempt with a great save with his chest.
Found himself in plenty of space down the right wing but his delivery into the box wasn't great as he regularly didn't get the ball past the first man. Was really unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, though, as he cannoned a strike off the bottom of the post.
Lost Benzema for Madrid's second as he allowed the Frenchman too much time and space to control and volley into the corner. Managed to recover from this and sorted out his positioning to mark the space better.
Wasn't at his swashbuckling best down the left-hand side as he had to deal with the penetrating runs of Bale. Got on the overlap a few times but his pace running back in defence was a massive asset.
Opened the scoring early doors with an emphatic finish in off the bar which gave Diego Lopez no chance. Glided along the pitch when on the ball and won the penalty for the winning goal when he somehow squeezed between the challenges of Xabi Alonso and Carvajal.
Was outjumped and outfought by Benzema for Real Madrid's opening goal and got caught underneath the ball. Didn't cover himself in glory in the latter stages as he got Ronaldo booked by holding his face after an aerial collision with the Portuguese.
Was neat and tidy in possession and showed composure when on the ball but his performance just lacked a decisive threaded pass or shot on goal. WIthdrawn in the second half for Alexis Sanchez.
Didn't go too far beyond the space just in front of the Barcelona defence, providing a much-needed insurance policy in the middle of the park when Real Madrid counterattacked. Intercepted quite a few balls through the centre and read the game well.
Was a safe pair of hands in possession but opted to sit much further back than usual which meant that, although his passes always hit their mark, they came in areas which didn't pose much of a threat to the opposition.
Got away the first shot on goal in the match after he burst past Marcelo on the right-hand side but drifted away as the half went on. Got in behind the Madrid defence to win a penalty kick out of Sergio Ramos but was substituted moments later.
Is now the all-time top goalscorer in the Clasico and achieved this with a superb hat-trick. Netted two penalties with incredible precision and scored Barcelona's second with a cracking finish 10 yards out after setting up Iniesta's opener.
