90' + 5'
FULL-TIME, and Manchester City secure a 2-1 victory after not really being tested by their West Ham opponents. The second half was arguably more dull than the first, but Yaya Toure’s thunderous strike did enough to secure the points for the Citizens despite the Hammers looking better than they did in the opening period and Andy Carroll’s late strike coupled with Joe Hart’s error. The home side did not really have to move out of second or third gear, and take a win that further cements them in the Champions League places.

GOAL!!! What an appalling error from Joe Hart! The ball comes into Andy Carroll, who chests it down and hammers it towards the England goalkeeper, who spills it over the line. That's the first goal he's conceded at home in six games.
90' + 3'
Interesting from Hart, who takes a Jarvis cross but seems to drop the ball slightly behind him before gathering at the second attempt. He must have known what he was doing, surely.
90' + 1'
Chance! Zabaleta sees a long-range shot parried poorly by Jaaskelainen into the path of Aguero, whose chipped finish goes wide. He could have had a hat-trick today. Four minutes will be added on at the end of the game.
Oh dear. Hart has gone down and seems to be in some pain. He might have tweaked something in his leg, but looks to be OK to continue.
Chance! Carroll finally gets some good contact on a header but Hart does just enough to palm the ball away.
Great block! Aguero has another chance after a brilliant run and square ball from Zabaleta, but Guy Demel is on hand to prevent his shot going in. City could have had several this afternoon.
Good ball there from Taylor, but none of the West Ham forwards can get good contact as they see it roll comfortably for Joe Hart to collect.
GOAL!!! Manchester City lead 2-0!! The ball breaks to Yaya Toure just outside the box, and he hammers home a shot into the top corner to secure three points for the home side. What a good goal that was.
Decent chance there for Collins after Matthew Taylor's free kick pinballs around in the penalty area. However, the defender can't get his shot on target.
Good work from Diame, as he flicks the ball away from Barry and gets himself a free kick near the City penalty area.
Yellow CardPablo Zabaleta
Zabaleta was also booked for reacting to O'Brien in the way that he did.
Yellow CardJoey O'Brien
Oh dear. O'Brien flies in with a reckless challenge that could have hurt Zabaleta right in front of the referee. The Manchester City man is absolutely furious, as that tackle could have done some real damage. O'Brien is booked.
West Ham have been toothless going forward all afternoon, as they see another free kick cleared away comfortably. They've offered little, with Carroll starved of service.
Great chance! Man City break forward and Tevez plays a very good ball across the penalty area for Nasri. However, the Frenchman is tenative in his finish and can't get good contact.
Yellow CardJack Collison
That was totally unnecessary from Jack Collison, who prevents Aguero from taking a quick throw and earns himself a caution.
Nice ball in there, but Hart is equal to the aerial threat of Andy Carroll.
Chance! Aguero jinks through and plays a square ball to Tevez, who sees his shot blocked over the bar brilliantly by Joey O'Brien.
Ricardo Vaz Te
Dear me. A deflected cross causes some confusion in the West Ham defence and the ball bobbles through for a corner.
Superb possession from Manchester City, who are content with passing the ball around at will as their opponents chase shadows.
Superb ball through to Nasri from Tevez, and the Frenchman's shot is palmed upwards by Jaaskelainen and cleared by the Hammers defenders.
It's getting a little bit scrappy out there, as Barry jumps into Diame in the centre circle and concedes a free kick.
Huge appeal for a handball against Zabaleta from a cross by Jarvis. Howard Webb doesn't agree.
Great ball to Tevez from Aguero, but Reid is across to deflect his half-volley over the bar.
Good cross from Jarvis into Carroll, who immediately protests for a corner after a deflection from Lescott. West Ham look far better already.
Manchester City come flying forward, with Silva in acres of space, but the Spaniard is in two minds and sees his pass cleared for a corner.
Ambitious ball there from Silva to Aguero, but it's slightly too heavy and gathered well by Jaaskelainen.
That looked like it hurt, as Vaz Te and Lescott go in for a crunching aerial challenge. They'll both be OK, thankfully.
Nice positive start from the Hammers, as Zabaleta just about manages to clear a teasing ball before Jarvis can get to it.
We're back already for the second half, which is kicked off by West Ham.
45' + 1'
HALF-TIME, and Manchester City lead 1-0 thanks to Sergio Aguero’s strike. The home side have been largely dominant, with Aguero and David Silva having good chances to extend their lead. The Citizens have not needed to move out of second gear in this game so far, with Joe Hart virtually a spectator in their goal. West Ham have offered little going forward, with Andy Carroll and Ricardo Vaz Te starved of any meaningful chances or crosses. The Hammers have struggled to even get the ball out of their own half, and will need that to change if they are to get anything out of this game.
There'll be one minute of stoppage time added on.
Oh dear. Vaz Te has a little bit of space after getting past Gael Clichy, but plays a poor ball that City can gather comfortably.
Manchester City now seem happy to play the ball around amongst themselves for the moment as the half-time interval beckons.
Here come West Ham again, but the home side are back defending in numbers. The Hammers have looked poor in attack, with Carroll and Vaz Te having very little to work with so far.
That free kick was a bit of a mess from West Ham. They play it short towards Jarvis, but he's immediately pulled back for being in an offside position. What a waste.
Great break forward from Jarvis in some rare respite for the Hammers defence, but he's stopped by what is deemed to be a block from Kompany.
The home side are starting to really dominate here, launching wave after wave of attacks on the West Ham goal. The Hammers just can't get the ball.
That would have been some goal. Yaya Toure causes minor havoc with his mere physical presence and sets up Gareth Barry, who scoops his shot well over the bar.
Great save! City go for a second as Nasri fires in a shot that Jaaskelainen can only fumble into the path of Zabaleta, whose second attempt is blocked away brilliantly by the Hammers goalkeeper.
GOAL!!! What a beautiful move from Manchester City, driven by Silva and Nasri. The pair played a delicious one-two, and there was Aguero in the penalty area to bury the ball. That had been coming for the home side.
Jarvis makes life a bit difficult as he harries Vincent Kompany, but the Belgian is not bothered at all as he clears well.
Good ball in from Silva, but it's too high for Lescott at the back post and he sends his header well wide.
Touching moment here, as Marc-Vivien Foe receives a standing ovation from all supporters in the 23rd minute. He died while on international duty with Cameroon almost 10 years ago and played for both clubs in his career.
Great chance! Silva's pass is deflected into the path of Aguero in the penalty area, but his scuffed shot hits the post and goes out! City should definitely be ahead now.
Good ball there from Diame that tries to set Jarvis away, but Lescott is there to cover once again.
Yellow CardAndy Carroll
Poor challenge there from Carroll on Aguero in the centre circle, earning the Liverpool loanee a yellow card.
Chance! West Ham clear a corner away thanks to Andy Carroll and the ball breaks to David Silva, who hammers a shot just wide from outside the box. That was the best effort of the game so far.
Tevez is full of running as ever, although James Collins is up to the task and shepherds the ball out of play.
Decent ball there towards Sergio Aguero, and he suggests Demel tugged on his shirt as the ball goes through to Jaaskelainen. There might have been a little pull, but nothing more.
Good defending there from West Ham, who restrict Silva's space and force Nasri into a poor cross that is cleared for a throw.
Silva has really been in the wars already. This time, Mohamed Diame brings him down and is warned by referee Webb.
Matt Jarvis plays a decent cross into the penalty area, although it's slightly too high for Ricardo Vaz Te.
That's a cracking ball there from Tevez towards Pablo Zabaleta on the right, and City force their first corner.
The ball breaks to Carlos Tevez after some good work by Nasri, but his shot is straight at Jussi Jaaskelainen and saved comfortably. It's been a very open game so far.
Another foul by Reid on Silva, with the Hammers defender getting a warning from the referee Howard Webb.
Great tackle there from Lescott, who sees a through-ball towards Guy Demel and gets there before the West Ham man.
Ouch. David Silva and Winston Reid go into a hard challenge near the centre circle and the Spaniard comes off second-best. He'll be OK, though.
That would have been quite a start. Samir Nasri slides a pass through to Carlos Tevez with just 10 seconds on the clock, but the Argentine is offside.
Here we go! Manchester City get the first half off and running.
Not long until the start here, as both teams make their way onto the pitch.
The home side make three changes to the team that lost to Spurs, with Joleon Lescott, David Silva and Sergio Aguero coming in for Matija Nastasic, James Milner and Edin Dzeko. West Ham are unchanged after their victory over Wigan last time out.
Then, here’s West Ham: Jaaskelainen, Reid, Nolan, Jarvis, Carroll, Vaz Te, O'Brien, Collins, Demel, Diame, O'Neil. Subs: C.Cole, Collison, Henderson, Taylor, Noble, Pogatetz, J.Cole.
How are the teams shaping up? Here’s Manchester City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Toure. Barry, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero. Subs: Pantilimon, Kolo Toure, Nastasic, Kolarov, Garcia, Milner, Dzeko.
West Ham, meanwhile, moved past the magic 40 points marker with their victory over Wigan in their last game thanks to goals from Matt Jarvis and Kevin Nolan. The Hammers are now unbeaten in five Premier League games in a run that has taken them up to 10th place and far away from the relegation zone. It has been a very solid first season back in the top flight for Sam Allardyce’s side, although they will be keen to reverse a poor run of form away to Manchester City. The Londoners last won against the Citizens 10 years ago thanks to a goal from Freddie Kanoute.
The league title has been wrestled from Manchester City’s grasp after their city rivals Manchester United beat Aston Villa, but the home side will still be keen to secure their position in second place and qualify for the Champions League. They lead third-placed Arsenal by five points, and with the FA Cup final still to come this has not been a bad season by any means for the Citizens. They might be concerned with their defensive problems against Tottenham last time out, as Spurs scored three goals in six minutes, but they will be desperate for a win here.
Good afternoon, and welcome to Goal.com’s LIVE! text commentary on this Premier League clash between Manchester City and West Ham. I’m Chris Teale, it’s great to see you again.
