Acting head coach Ben Adjei boasts of a win in his first day in the office to boost morale ahead of the crucial game against Asante Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak have recorded their badly needed win against wobbling Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United.

Substitute Edward Affum scored at stoppage time to give the Phobians a 3-2 victory over the Pride of the North at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Rainbow club have failed to bring any of the spoils home in their last three domestic top flight games culminating in the dismissal of coach C.K Akunnor. Sunday evening’s win was important for care-taker coach Ben Adjei, whose next major test is against arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on November 18. It was also a good start for midfielder Laryea Kingston, who was introduced into the game in the second half after going on suspension for misconduct.

Captain Mahatma Otoo opened the score sheet for the former African champions in the 16th minute, but was cancelled by Hanan Giwah.

The Pride of the North took the lead in the second half courtesy a Salim Sakara goal and just when the day seems to be going the way of the visitors, Iddrisu Moro pulled level for the hosts from the spot in the 86th minute. The woes of coach Mohammed Gargo’s side worsened when Afum broke their hearts at stoppage time to ensure victory for Hearts of Oak.

The Phobians are now ninth on the log with seven points whiles RTU languish at the relegation zone with just three points.
