The Phobians run riot at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday where they humbled FA Cup holders 5-2Mahatma Otoo earned a hat-trick as the Phobians humiliated New Edubiase in a 5-2 goal thriller at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Edubiase had a relatively better start to the game, racking up the corner count early on but failing to make anything out of their numerous opportunities they were presented with as the Phobians failed to hold on possession, losing the ball almost immediately after gaining control of it.
The FA Cup holders continued to have the better of the exchanges but still failed to really trouble Sammy Adjei in goal for the Phobians as Hearts of Oak slowly started to build momentum in the game.
Edubiase were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal though as Affum was brought down by the goalkeeper in the box after Attakorah Gyimah had played him through. Godwin Osei Bonsu made no mistake from the spot to give Hearts of Oak the lead on the 38th minute mark.
Edubiase went the other way almost immediately but blasted their free kick over the bar and once again were made to pay the price for their woeful shooting as Otoo got on the end of Gyimah’s cross to double Hearts of Oak’s lead on the stroke of half time.
It was a more even start to the second half but both sides this time having a goal, but with New Edubiase looking like they were fading out of the game and very few could have predicted the flurry of goals that was to follow.
Basit Adams pulled one back for Edubiase before Bernard Ofori leveled the scores to put the stadium into silence. Otoo however got the fans singing again as he glanced Moro Iddris’ free kick into the net but the fans were reminded of their precarious situation almost straight away as Edubiase struck the upright.
Otoo however completed his hat-trick to calm the nerves before Nuru Sulley put the icing on the cake with the fifth goal.
