Berekum Chelsea have brought to an end Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run in the 2012-13 Ghana Premier League season after a 2-0 win at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
Jordan Opoku and Eric Bekoe, both former players of the defending champions, got their names on the score sheet to give the 2012 Caf Champions League losing finalists a 2-0 victory.
Chelsea have now amassed 24 points after their 12th game this season, moving them to the summit as Aduana Stars, who were then leading the table, drew 1-1 with Accra giants Hearts of Oak on Matchday-12.
Kotoko, Ghana’s representatives in next year’s Caf Champions League, are now fifth on the log and have put their title defence in a shaky position with three games to end the first round of the domestic top flight.
