Debutants, Amidaus Professionals again proved that they have what it takes to handle the big teams in the Ghanaian top flight.
After drawing goalless with champions, Asante Kotoko in Kumasi in the first round of matches, they pulled another surprise following a 2-2 draw with massive spenders, Medeama Sc in Tarkwa over the weekend.
Tony Lokko’s men who promised to frustrate the 20-time champions, Hearts of Oak did exactly that after taking the lead twice in the 2-2 draw with the Phobians at the Tema Park on Wednesday afternoon.
In-form midfielder, Yahaya Mohammed was on hand to again inspire Amidaus to avoid defeat.
The 25-year-old who is on-loan at Amidaus from Kumasi Asante Kotoko scored both goals to take his tally to eight goals in nine matches.
The Tema based team took the lead on each occasion but Ashitey Ollenu and Ivorian import, Ruben Gnagne(penalty) were on target to give Hearts of Oak a point.
Mohammed is currently the leading scorer and has by far been the best performer in the Ghanaian top flight.
Indeed, the newly promoted side will miss his services since his one-year stay has been truncated after his mother club, Kotoko requested for his quick return in January.
Amidaus lie 10th on the league log with 10 points.
For Accra Hearts of Oak, they are still unbeaten under new coach, David Duncan.
Duncan has led them in three matches including the 0-0 draw with Asante Kotoko in Kumasi and the 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals.
He will lead the 2000 Caf champions league winners against his former club, Ashgold at the Accra sports stadium this Sunday while Amidaus Professionals will lock horns with Tema Youth in a local derby.
