Goals in either half from Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure ensured the Citizens took home all three points against the Irons, and all but wrapped up second place in the Premier League

Joe Hart Flop of the Match

Although untested for large parts of the game, the England number one had what must have been one of the easiest afternoons of the season so far, until that is, he let a shot from Andy Carroll slip through his legs late on to ruin a clean sheet. Terrible error.

  • Vincent Kompany

    Vincent Kompany

The City captain was an authoritative figure throughout, and dealt with West Ham's physical presence with ease. Comfortable on the ball and a natural leader, Roberto Mancini must wonder how his side's season would have unfolded if the Belgium defender had been fit for the whole campaign.

  • Pablo Zabaleta

    Pablo Zabaleta

One of the league's most outstanding defenders this season, the Argentina right-back is a constant menace down his flank. Denied a goal by a good save from Jaaskelainen midway through the first half. Booked for reacting to a terrible tackle on him by O'Brien.

  • Joleon Lescott

    Joleon Lescott

Slotted back into the back four in place of young Matija Nastasic, and was composed and solid throughout, even if the England man was somewhat untested. Remains to be seen if he can hold onto his place for the FA Cup final, however.

    Gael Clichy

The former Arsenal man had a comfortable afternoon, although a few sloppy touches here and there conceded possession unnecessarily at times. Linked up well with Nasri down City's left flank.

  • Samir Nasri

    Samir Nasri

Played a crucial role in the opening goal as he exchanged a one-two with David Silva before sliding the ball into the box for Aguero to tap in. He should have had one himself, but he somehow missed from six yards after a square from Tevez.

  • Gareth Barry

    Gareth Barry

Kept the midfield ticking over along with Toure, and made the occasional foray forward but with no real impact. He provides a good anchor to the City midfield with his left foot adding balance to attacks, but he may have his work cut out keeping his place in this team next season.

  • David Silva

    David Silva

A bright spark throughout, Silva is without doubt City's most gifted player. Rarely wasteful with the ball, his deft touches along with Nasri created the opening goal for Aguero and he was behind all of the home side's good work. Played a delightful lofted pass for Aguero in the opening period which the Argentina striker mis-cued.

  • Yaya Touré

    Yaya Touré

The Ivorian was not at his rampaging best, but he didn't ever need to get out of second gear against the meek Hammers. His presence alone causes panic, and he ran the midfield single-handedly here. His goal on 82 minutes was a screamer as he cut in and belted home an effort with his left foot from the edge of the area.

  • Sergio Agüero

Sergio Agüero Top of the Match

Could hardly miss with the goal after Nasri and Silva combined to leave him with a tap in from just a few yards out. Missed a sitter earlier in the first half, though, when Silva found him in space in the box, and the Argentina striker swiveled and shot, but his effort came back off the post with the goal gaping.

  • Carlos Tévez

    Carlos Tévez

The former Irons striker was a constant source of bother for the Irons defenders, with his powerful runs and desire to shoot from range testing the resilience of the visitors. Was denied by a decent stop from Jaaskelainen early in the first half, and good blocks from Reid and O'Brien in the second.

    James Milner

Had little time to make a major impact, but was neat and tidy in possession down the right flank, and kept the team's shape well.

Came on for final ten to solidify the midfield following Toure's second goal.

  • Jussi Jaaskelainen

    Jussi Jaaskelainen

The experience Finland keeper made several good saves throughout, and was totally helpless for the opening goal. A double stop from Aguero and then Zabaleta midway through the first half was the pick of several decent saves.

  • Winston Reid

    Winston Reid

Made several niggly fouls in the opening stages and was lucky to escape without a booking after clattering into Silva. The New Zealand defender has become a rock at the back for the Hammers, and he dealt well with City's pacy and diminutive attackers.

  • Joey O'Brien

    Joey O'Brien

The former Bolton man had his hands full with David Silva all afternoon, and he was beaten by the Spain midfielder on more than one occasion. Provided good cover for his fellow defenders, however, and made a great block to deny Carlos Tevez midway through the second half. Booked for really poor tackle on Zabaleta in the second half, which the Argentine was particularly unhappy about.

  • James Collins

    James Collins

The burly Wales defender was given a tough workout by Tevez and Aguero but he did well against the Argentina pair, who for all their pretty football, failed to bombard the Irons goal for large periods of the game. Could have scored when the ball fell to his feet in the area, but he lashed his effort wide.

  • Guy Demel

    Guy Demel

The Ivorian has made the right-back spot his own this season, but much like his colleague on the opposite flank, was made to work hard by City's lively attackers. In Demel's case Samir Nasri caused countless problems with his lively showing, and the assist for Aguero's opener came from his side of the pitch. Made a great block to deny the Argentina striker a second late on.

  • Kevin Nolan

    Kevin Nolan

The Irons skipper was his usual bustling self, and along with Diame and O'Neil he forms part of a strong and effective midfielder unit. West Ham's second half improvement was led by Nolan and his midfield comrades, and that engine room is why the Hammers have been so effective on their return to the top flight.

  • Matthew Jarvis

    Matthew Jarvis

A good showing from the one-time England winger. His lively play down the left flank was a good outlet for the Irons throughout, and he was close to finding big striker Andy Carroll on several occasions with some decent crosses. One of West Ham's brighter lights.

  • Mohamed Diame

    Mohamed Diame

Without doubt the standout player for the visitors. He could have scored with an excellent volley from the edge of the area midway through the first half which Hart did well to save. His physical presence may have negated the influence of Yaya Toure, and his positive running with the ball.

  • Gary O'Neil

    Gary O'Neil

Formed the a good midfield triumvirate with Nolan and Diame, but the former Middlesbrough man was undoubtedly the weakest of those three. He was quiet for large parts of the contest in an attacking sense, but provided good defensive cover.

  • Andy Carroll

    Andy Carroll

A frustrating afternoon for the big striker. He picked up the game's first booking for a 'forward's tackle' after 20 minutes, and his frustration will only have festered as the service to him was largely poor throughout. Got a goal late on after a terrible blunder from Joe Hart.

  • Ricardo Vaz Te

    Ricardo Vaz Te

Had the occasional bright moment, but should have been booked for a terrible dive late in the first half. His crossing was inconsistent and he provided little cover for his full back.

Booked within a few minutes of coming on for cynically handballing to stop a quick throw-in. Was largely anonymous.
