Matchday-Five of Ghana Premier League season 2013-14 is set to be honoured this weekend with most of the games coming off on Sunday after the Bechem – Hearts of Oak game on Saturday.

Four of the clubs among the five best-placed on the current league table - Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Bechem United and Hearts of Lions - would seek to record second successive victories when they play Inter Allies, Bechem United, Hearts of Oak and Dwarfs respectively.

For Kotoko particularly, a win against the pointless new entrants in Tema would add to a run of four straight wins in as many games this season while third-placed Ashantigold, the other member of the league-leading quintet, would seek to pick all points when they play Amidaus Professionals at Obuasi's Len Clay after being held to a goalless draw tie in Kumasi by King Faisal on Wednesday.

Faisal themselves would be desperate to soothe their relegation wounds with a good performance over Wa All Stars, a club that lost at home to defending champions Kotoko last time out.

The remainder of the calendar would also see Medeama United and Liberty Professionals contest a clash at the latter's Carl Reindorf Park home in which either side would be hoping to pick two more points than they did during their respective midweek fixtures to help propel them beyond the lower half of the league log.

In another mid-table clash, Aduana Stars, who were stunned by an unusual 2-1 loss at their Dormaa fortress in their most recent encounter against Bechem United, would look to avoid another unfavourable result by a regional rival, this time 2010-11 winners Berekum Chelsea, over whom they enjoy a slender two-point lead.

New Edubiase (13th) and Hasaacas (14th), two-fourths of the league's poorest performers per the present standings, go head-to-head in a match whose outcome would almost certainly have ramifications in the drop zone.

The height of the stakes in these eight delicious games should have spectators flocking to the venues in their numbers.
