Aduana Stars are hosting 12th placed Accra Hearts of Oak in the Match Day-19 of the 2012-13 Glo Premier League on Wednesday at the Agyemang Badu Stadium.

Aduana are third on the Premier League table and three points off the top spot. The unprecedented, historic, debutant league winners in 2010 are aiming for a top-four finish since they last won the league, having chalked fifth and sixth in the subsequent seasons.

The Dormaa side have not lost a single game at home all season. Only three teams from the top five of the Premier League table have snatched a point away at Aduana Stars – Berekum Chelsea, Asante Kotoko, and Ebusua Dwarfs - amongst the exquisite clubs to draw at the Agyeman Badu Stadium.

Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, are enjoying a fresh breath of fortune in 2013. They have won four out of six games, albeit two coming in the domestic cup competition against lower division opponents. David Duncan’s side has won two and drawn two in the league since the beginning of the year, and in so doing, have moved a place above the relegation zone. The threat of the drop still hovers around the results of the Oak Tree, and if they should lose away at Dormaa, they will be pushed further back into the survival race should either King Faisal or Tema Youth win their games in midweek.

However, considering Aduana Stars’ home invincibility in the league so far and Hearts of Oak’s travelling woes, a drawn game could be the likely outcome of this encounter. On the plus side for the Phobians, their last away win came in week-22 last season at the Agyemang Badu Stadium when new signing Sadat Karim notched up his first ever goal for Hearts exactly a year ago in the 0-1 win for the capital side on April Fools Day – 13 games on, and the Phobians are still searching for a first away win in the league.

In the first round, Hearts of Oak came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Aduana Stars. Samuel Asiedu had scored in the fifth minute but youngster Romeo Agban cancelled out the goal with a well taken strike in the 19th minute. Hearts went on to rue their chances having dominated in all facets of the game, but Aduana Stars looked quite dangerous on set-pieces with Godfred Saka troubling the Hearts goalkeeper with his adept deliveries.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two teams have met seven times in the Glo Premier League since Aduana Stars’ promotion in the 2009-10 season. Hearts have won three times against Aduanas’ one with three games ending in a draw.

Six goals have been scored in the seven league encounters and the Phobians lead the way with four goals to Aduanas’ three.
