Five to watch: Ligue 1 scout report
1. The bargain: Kevin Gameiro
When he has featured from the start, however, Gameiro has showcased the predatory instincts that saw him reach double figures for league goals in each of the previous four campaigns, notching 49 combined goals and assists with Lorient in the two years prior to his move to PSG.
The 25-year-old has struck three goals in his four league starts this season, firing 11 shots towards goal with 72 per cent accuracy. Off the bench he has often been effective; he struck the winning goal in PSG's 1-0 win over Montpellier on Friday and was an inventive, lively presence when brought on against Valencia in the Champions League last 16, helping to create Lavezzi's decisive goal.
Blessed with blistering pace, Gameiro is constantly on the shoulder of the last man, eager to race onto through-balls. His speed is matched by his calmness in front of goal, with a natural instinct to be in the right place at the right time. He may be slight and contribute little to approach play, but his goalscoring potential would be invaluable for a number of Premier League sides and he wouldn't he break the bank either.
