Five to watch: Eredivisie scout report
2. The guaranteed goalscorer: Wilfried Bony
The Ivory Coast international has powered his side, not a traditional giant of the Dutch game, to within three points of the top of the Eredivisie. Regardless of whether or not they pull off an improbable first-ever league triumph, however, the striker looks sure to depart.
Bony has made it clear that he wants to test himself at a higher level and why not? With more league goals to his name than Robin van Persie, Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, among many others, the 24-year-old clearly has more to offer.
As an Ivorian striker, comparisons to Didier Drogba are inevitable and there are some similarities.
Both men are blessed with incredible strength and presence but the Vitesse star does not have the extreme pace that Drogba did in his heyday. What Bony does best is bully defenders in the penalty area.
To complete the comparison, Chelsea have been linked with a move, and there could be potential for destruction with Bony using his sheer power to carve holes for the Blues' thrilling attacking-midfield technicians. However, Romelu Lukaku could potentially be recalled from West Brom to perform that function himself.
The other English club most prominently linked are West Ham and this might make more sense as a platform for Bony to test himself in the Premier League before moving higher up the ladder if he proves a success. The Ivorian would be an expensive purchase for the Hammers but looks to have all the attributes to beef up their forward line in a big way.
