Five to watch: Eredivisie scout report
1. The bargain: Douglas
Perhaps due to having his head turned by Premier League interest in the summer, the Twente defender has failed to live up to his previous high standards so much in 2012-13 but will get his chance to move on and make amends for a poor season soon enough.
With his contract expiring in the summer and no suggestion that he will renew, Douglas is free to follow up on the confirmed interest from the likes of Fulham and Newcastle.
A fairly terrifying physical prospect, he should fit in well to the Premier League, where power is usually king.
The centre-back has won the Eredivisie at Twente as well as the Dutch domestic cup and has been publicly receptive to the Toon's interest in particular. Fabricio Coloccini's potential departure in the summer, combined with the lack of a transfer fee and the Magpies' last raid of Enschede yielding Cheikh Tiote, again makes them the most likely suitors.
