Five to watch: La Liga scout report
The guaranteed goalscorer: Roberto Soldado
He has consistently found the back of the net since bursting onto the scene with Getafe in 2008-09, and since replacing David Villa at Mestalla in 2010 he has been Valencia's talisman.
Los Che have fought tooth and nail to keep hold of him over the last two summers, even as Juan Mata departed just a year after David Silva and Villa. But the ever-worsening financial situation in Valencia (both the football club and the city itself, which now, oddly, owns the club) could mean that a bid of £20 million will be enough to lure him away.
England could well be his next destination. At 27, he is entering his peak years and could be open to a new challenge, especially now that Valencia's previously unchallenged role as third-best Liga side is well and truly under threat.
Soldado would be a great signing for Arsenal or Manchester City, even though the latter are pre-occupied with Falcao or Cavani. Liverpool would also be extremely interested should Luis Suarez leave Anfield, and he would be perfect for Tottenham if they decide to renew their efforts to sign him.
