Five to watch: La Liga scout report
The bargain: Piti
Although not a striker, and not exactly a spring chicken, 31-year-old Piti has been the main man at Rayo this season. He plays a direct brand of football in a variety of positions, and has hit 12 goals as the Vallecas side chase Europa League football.
He has predominantly played an attacking role on the left this season, scoring 10 of his 12 goals. But he has also put in a shift on the right, whether as a winger or more of a wing-back, and has equally impressed.
His short passing is not brilliant, but his long passing and shooting is markedly better, he is a willing and capable dribbler and puts in plenty of crosses.
Available for free at the end of his contract, and given the success of Primera Division imports in England in 2012-13, several clubs have been, and will continue to be, linked with Piti. Sunderland, QPR and Norwich were all monitoring the former Hercules man in January, and several sides will come back in over the summer when Rayo have time to take stock of their squad and work out where they can reinvest any incoming funds - something they were unable to do during the transfer window.
