Winners: Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool have arguably done some of the best business of the January transfer window. Daniel Sturridge has always had bags of potential and, although the Reds were forced to pay a hefty £12 million or so as part of the English-player tax, the striker has already gone some way to repaying the faith with three goals in his first five games. His partnership with Luis Suarez is, strangely for two players of such greedy nature, very exciting.
In Coutinho at £8.5m they have, according to team-mate Lucas Leiva, a "proper Brazilian" who will be able to carve open chances for the aforementioned pair. Though he was not wholly successful at Inter, and doubts remain over whether he possesses enough strength for the Premier League, if he is given freedom he could prove another excellent acquisition. It is not just the ins, either, with the departures of Nuri Sahin, Joe Cole and Alexander Doni freeing up wage space. And more, with all deals done in good time, there was no deadline day stress at Anfield.
