Clubs all over the world were put on high alert when Beckham announced his decision to leave LA Galaxy back in November, so it comes as something of a surprise that he waited until the last day of the transfer window to seal a deal with a European club.

Beckham knows PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti from his first loan spell at AC Milan in 2009, while current PSG sporting director Leonardo was in charge at San Siro for his second loan spell a year later.

It is unknown whether he will provide competition for new boy Lucas Moura or slightly older boy Ezequiel Lavezzi on the right, or Marco Verratti in a deep-lying central role, but he will certainly bring vast experience to Parc des Princes.

And he's donating his wages to a local charity!
