Moussa Sissoko is a player whose career has stalled recently. At 19, he was made a France international under the stewardship of Raymond Domenech, who thought very highly of the Paris-born midfield yet, after a subsequent dip in form, he has never truly recovered.
This season there can be little doubt that the 22-year-old has started to look like his old self. He is best used in a box-to-box role, where his energy and all-round ability can shine through, and there can be little doubt that he has the physical attributes to survive in the Premier League.
Although he is noted more for his crunching tackles than his finesse, he would slot into Newcastle’s midfield nicely and would complement the talents of Yohan Cabaye well.
With his contract winding down in the Pink City, it seems that a January move looks on the cards as the disgruntled Violets attempt to recoup a fee on a player who was once watched by several of Europe’s top clubs.
If Newcastle can tap his potential, he can become a star.
